When should you hire a professional to remove a tree in Nampa?

Trees are an incredible organisms that define our landscape. The oldest known living organism is a bristle cone pine tree in California that is estimated to be over 5000 years old.

Sometimes it is a very easy decision to remove a tree, especially a dead tree. However, the decision can be difficult if the tree is healthy or makes shade. Trees add shade, value, and beauty to properties but they can also cause problems.

Trees can damage roofs, foundations, plumbing, wiring, and many other things. Sometimes they are just simply in the way of something that we want to do or build. Another factor to consider when deciding whether or not to remove a tree is the maintenance costs of a tree. Even a healthy tree will need to be pruned every 2 to 5 years.

All of these factors should be considered before removing a tree.

Reasons for Tree Removal

limb walkOne of the best things to do when deciding to remove a tree is consult an arborist. Sometimes it seems like the only option there is for a tree is to cut it down.

Many people simply are not aware of the other options they have for their trees. Often times we will consult with our customers and come up with a solution to save their trees instead of removing them. Or we can help identify reasons to remove a tree. This is based upon tree size, location, species, and the condition of the tree.

On the contrary sometimes our customers are not considering removal at all but upon inspection we might find major issues with a tree and recommend removal.

We try to save trees whenever possible but sometimes they pose a significant risk to property or people and should be taken down. You can always plant a new tree and set the new tree up for success by planting the right tree in the right location preventing future issues.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Removal

When should I have a tree removed? How do you know if you should get a tree removed? Depending on the circumstances that question can be difficult or easy to answer.

The best option for answering these questions is to schedule a free estimate where we can offer our experience and knowledge to help you make that decision. Here are a few examples of when you should have a tree removed. If you tree is dead or dying then it should definitely be removed.

The longer that a dead tree stays the more hazardous it will be to remove and therefore more expensive. If your tree is dead then do not wait to get it removed. If your tree poses a significant risk of injuring people, damaging a house, or property and cannot be corrected with pruning or cabling and bracing then it should be removed.

If your tree has an active failure that cannot be corrected with pruning, cabling, or bracing then it should be removed. If the wrong kind of tree was planted in the wrong spot it is often better to remove the tree and replace it with a tree more suitable for the location.

Trees can also be removed to get valuable space on a property or to avoid future maintenance costs. If you are unsure of the condition of your tree we can inspect your tree and even climb into the tree to check for possible issues.

I have never had a tree removed what should I expect? We try to make the whole process as easy and convenient for our customers as possible. We understand that it can be a confusing process so we are here to clarify and help however we can.

The first step to getting a tree removed is to call and schedule a free estimate. We will get your address and schedule a time that works with you to look at your property. We do not typically give estimates from pictures because it is difficult to judge the scope of the project from a picture. When we come to look at your trees we go over the whole process and give you a detailed estimate. We will give you a verbal estimate as well as an emailed version.

You can decide whenever you want to decline or accept our estimate however our pricing is only valid for 30 days. After that we will have to update our estimate. After you accept our estimate we will put you on our schedule and work with you to coordinate the best time. Some people like to be home during the process and that is fine. We just ask that you maintain a safe distance from the tree for your safety.

We will come the day and time that we schedule with you unless something unexpected happens and if that occurs you will be notified as soon as possible. However, does not happen very often. If we are going to grind your stump as part of the removal we will call the 811 dig line for you to locate any underground utilities.

Then we will get the job done as safely, quickly, and efficiently as possible. Some jobs can take a few hours and some jobs might take a few days. We will get the tree rigged to the ground using advanced tree removal equipment and then haul away all of the debris from the tree.

Some of our customers want the wood from the tree for firewood or other things and we are happy to cut it up for you and move it. After the whole tree is down and hauled off we will either grind the stump or leave the stump but then its done and now you can use your property for whatever you want.

What if something gets damaged during the tree removal process?  We are very skilled at removing trees in difficult areas. We have specialized equipment and training to be able to safely remove a tree even in close proximity to a house or fence.

Every part of the tree that is cut is in our control all of the time. We do this by using ropes and rigging equipment to carefully cut and lower each piece of the tree safely to the ground and away from your house or fence. Despite all of this tree work is inherently risky and dangerous.

If something were to become damaged we have insurance that protects you the consumer from that risk. We carry liability, workers comp, and vehicle insurance in accordance with industry standards. The chances of having a problem are very small but if it did we are insured to protect you from the risk. To date we have never had a major injury, major damage, or had to make an insurance claim. We are committed to maintaining our excellent safety record.

How much does tree removal cost? Tree removal costs vary widely due to a multitude of factors. The cost can be affected by how difficult the trees are to access, the size of the trees, the risks the tree poses to workers, and what is around the tree.

If a tree was easy to get to and there was nothing around it then it would be relatively cheap. If the tree is in a back yard with a small gate, leaning over your house, and leaning over your neighbors house it is going to cost more. Ultimately it comes down to the amount of time it takes to remove the tree.

We are competitive with pricing and it is important to consider that you get what you pay for. You might get a cheaper bid but often times that is from a company that does not carry insurance or workers comp. So if something goes wrong you are left with the damages.

It is important to use a reputable company that carries the proper insurance and qualifications. There is a temptation to do the removal yourself to save money. Tree removal is dangerous task and every year people die while removing trees. It is not worth the money you save if you get injured or killed trying to remove a tree.

There are ways that we can help you save money with your tree removal project, ask us about it during your free estimate.

What do you do with the branches and wood from the trees? We chip the branches into small pieces with a wood chipper and then haul them to a recycling facility where they are turned into mulch. The larger wood is either left with the customer for their use or we haul it off and either take it to the recycling facility or give it to families in need for firewood.

We do not sell firewood at the moment, but we might offer that in the future.

Can’t say enough positive things about the experience! Showed up on time to remove my 25 year old overgrown spruce. Got it cut down and removed all in one afternoon without damaging my neighbor’s property or mine. Cleaned up so well that you can’t even tell there was ever a tree there. Got some quotes from other businesses and Trees All Day was the most affordable. Definitely would have them come back and would recommend them to friends!
